Klosterneuburg digitizes water meter service with waterloo
Klosterneuburg relies on the waterloo app to digitize the reading and replacement of over 9,000 water meters. In future, meter data will be automatically recorded and checked using QR codes or other methods. City Councillor Markus Presle emphasizes the further development of digitalization and citizen service. This considerably reduces the administrative workload for the municipality and significantly improves citizen service. Citizens benefit from self-reading, plausibility checks and a 24-hour hotline.

The Yellow Bag keeps the community busy
Starting in 2023, waste disposal in Klagenfurt-Land will be standardized: lightweight and metal packaging, as well as beverage cartons, will go in the yellow bag (collected every 4 weeks). So far, only 3 of 19 municipalities use the system. Schiefling and Zell/Sele prefer recycling centers. Maria Rain is relying on “stickers for litterbugs.” The waste app from SYMVARO GmbH, Austria’s most successful waste management tool, supports the transition digitally.

Water App : New product for water suppliers
SYMVARO is launching waterloo Control. The software makes it easier for water utilities to monitor their own infrastructure—such as fire hydrants and springs—especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. It helps them conduct mandatory inspections efficiently and in a resource-efficient manner, despite shift work and tight budgets. Managing Director Rudolf Ball highlights the software’s practical design and the growing international interest in it.

IT industry : SYMVARO and Datev pool expertise
Klagenfurt-based SYMVARO GmbH and Germany’s DATEV eG are partnering to help municipal water utilities transition to digital operations. The goal is to integrate software solutions via interfaces, enabling water utilities to achieve more efficient processes and optimized data flow. Symvaro’s “waterloo” meter management system will be integrated with DATEV applications, making meter replacement easier and less prone to errors.

SYMVARO takes off at a larger location
SYMVARO, the Klagenfurt-based smart city app company, has opened its new office in Klagenfurt. Founded in 2010 by Rudolf Ball and specializing in waste and water solutions, the company’s flagship product is the WATERLOO software solution. The app, designed for water utilities and end users, provides digital support for meter management and replacement. As the “Startup of the Year 2017,” SYMVARO is growing steadily, which made the move necessary. Ball emphasizes: “All you need to be successful is the internet, a lot of passion, and a dash of courage.”

Schwaz relies on "Müll App" from SYMVARO for better citizen service
The city of Schwaz and 25 other municipalities in the district use the “Müll App” developed by Klagenfurt-based SYMVARO GmbH. The app improves the quality of service provided by DAKA Waste Management by delivering all information about waste and trash collection directly to residents’ smartphones. A “garbage reminder” alerts users to collection dates, recycling center hours are available, and waste-related news is shared. The goal is to prevent mistakes and simplify waste disposal.

Investment boost for waterloo
Diehl Ventures GmbH of Germany has made a seven-figure investment in the Klagenfurt-based startup SYMVARO and now holds a 16.6% stake. Diehl became aware of the company through SYMVARO’s waterloo—a software solution for digital water meter management. This partnership strengthens the Carinthian economy and promotes the digitalization of the water industry.

Sittersdorf: Water meter reading now digital
Sittersdorf made it possible for citizens to report water meter readings via the waterloo app for the first time. In addition to the app, levels could also be reported via a web form, hotline or Facebook chatbot. Mayor Jakob Strauß and financial administrator Sabine Sager emphasized the efficiency gains for the administration in the face of growing tasks without increasing staff. The municipality raffled off a tablet to promote digital use.

SYMVARO, founded in 2010 by Rudolf Ball, aims to digitize the European water industry.

Völkermarkt district: digitalization on the rise
The use of municipal apps in the district of Völkermarkt is growing steadily. The municipalities of Völkermarkt and Globasnitz are successfully using the SYMVARO Müll App. In Völkermarkt, 1,126 households already use the app, in Globasnitz 237, supplemented by 30 SMS users. Völkermarkt also offers a water app for digital meter reading transmission, which is proving very popular. A third of meter readings were already digital in 2016. The good old meter reading card remains in place. Eisenkappel-Vellach relies on a self-developed all-in-one app.
